Additional Taks 4: Organizing a Teachers Computer

Picture
In one of our New Media classes we were asked to think about the question "How to organize you PC as a Teacher". Therefore, we were supposed to think about the most important aspects for a teacher.
Given examples for important aspects were:
- useful folder structures for teaching material
- sources for software
- encryption of student data
- virus protection
- backup solutions
- reusabilitiy of worksheets

The mindmap in the picture on the left hand side shows the results we considered most important in our groupwork.
First of all I think it is essential to clearly devide private from professional. Therefore, it is good to establish two accounts on the private computer. These accounts should be secured with two different passwords, whereas on the professional account all documents concerning different data about pupils need to be secured with an extra password for additional safety. For starting a new school year maybe as a "KlassenlehrerIn" it would be useful as well to have a picture of you new class with all the names. This ensures that you will learn the names quickly right at the beginning of the school year.
As a teacher you need to have a useful and well organized folder structure of course. This could be devided into your different subjects and then again into different grades and topics.
To secure all the data on the computer it is of great importance to do several backups just in case...
... If one considers those aspects nothing sould go wrong!
