New Media

The new media have become a well-accepted medium for language teaching and allow the teacher to create new learning opportunities for their students. Teachers are expected to be qualified for using them as one tool of teaching, similar to the text book, black board or OHP. The New Media course will introduce us to various computer applications and web tools that can facilitate the typical tasks of an English teacher. Furthermore, it will make us aware of the possibilities of the new media for both, lesson preparation and in-class teaching. We will get an awareness for the pitfalls and dangers of the new media and develop own teaching ideas and session plans that use the new media, e.g. vocabulary learning software, web 2.0 tools, online newspapers and podcasts.
